How to Search the Crete Court Docket
Crete posts no separate public municipal-court docket portal. That says nothing about whether the city can enforce an ordinance or handle a citation. Your first task is simply to identify the record. A Crete parking reference number belongs with the police payment process. An ordinance, traffic, or other matter filed in Saline County Court, by contrast, carries a state case number and a register of actions in Nebraska JUSTICE. Keep the two layers straight. Crete City Hall holds city records, ordinances, legal notices, and archives. The court clerk holds any filed court record.
- Read the Crete notice or ticket for its issuing agency, reference number, case number, and date.
- For a Crete city parking or impound matter, begin with the official Crete Police payment channel.
- For a filed Crete court matter, use the Nebraska JUSTICE public case search with a verified party name or case number.
- Compare the court, caption, filing year, case type, and register of actions before treating a result as the intended Crete case.
- Call the correct Saline clerk for a certified copy, a critical hearing date, or a record that does not appear online.
JUSTICE searches party names, not witnesses. The one-time remote path carries a 30-result cap and a stated 24-hour entry lag. It charges even when it returns nothing. So a blank Crete search can mean several things: the wrong court layer, a recent filing, a restricted record, or an administrative city record. It is not proof that nothing occurred.
Crete City Records and Court Files
Crete offers three distinct public-record routes. The Crete City Clerk maintains city records, archives, and ordinances. The office also handles legal notices and records-request information. Crete Police runs the city parking and impound payment channel. Once a complaint or citation enters Saline County Court, that court maintains the judicial file. All three records can describe the same event. They are not duplicates, and they do not share a number.
| Crete record question | Likely custodian | Useful identifier |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinance, legal notice, or city archive | Crete City Clerk | Topic, date range, or code chapter |
| Parking or impound payment | Crete Police | Reference number and total |
| Filed ordinance or state-court case | Saline County Court | Case number, caption, and year |
Crete counts 7,099 residents. That makes it Saline County's largest incorporated place in the 2020 Census ranking. That is a population figure, though, and nothing more. It tells you nothing about the size of a Crete court docket. The city publishes no caseload count. Resident numbers therefore cannot be read as a measure of how many Crete cases exist or how serious they are.
The Crete Municipal Court
Crete has no separately searchable municipal court docket. There is no city court calendar, no city judge listed, and no city case-number format of its own. The honest answer for Crete is a routing answer. City paperwork often starts with the clerk or the police department. Once an ordinance violation is filed, Nebraska County Court handles it. A city-office record is not a court register of actions. Treat the two as different things.
County Court is where most Crete filings land. Those include traffic, misdemeanors, infractions, small claims, probate, juvenile matters in Saline, preliminary felony hearings, and ordinance violations. Felony trials, civil cases above the County Court limit, domestic relations, equity, and appeals belong to District Court instead. Naming the right court beats assuming a municipal label that does not exist here.
Note: Keep a city reference number, a payment receipt, and a later court case number as separate identifiers. The clerk should confirm whether they connect.
Crete Parking Records Before Court
Crete Police offers the clearest local look. It shows where the city ends and the court begins. Its payment workflow asks for a name, address, reference number, and total. It takes card, checking, or savings-account payment. The city lists a 2.5% convenience fee for online card payments. In-person and mail options exist too. Paying here is an administrative step, not a stand-in for a Nebraska JUSTICE case search.
The official Crete parking-enforcement page issues one warning. Three parking tickets within 30 days can get a car towed on the third one. Crete's parking code also says an unpaid nonmoving citation goes to the municipal attorney after 30 days. A complaint may then be filed in an appropriate court. That code file dates to 2016. Confirm the current dollar amounts and timing with Crete before relying on them.
Crete routing point: Search a police parking reference through the city channel first. Search JUSTICE only after a Crete matter has a filed state-court case or the responsible office confirms that court filing.
Crete Court Dates and Settings
A Crete hearing date belongs to whichever court scheduled it, which may not be the city office that first sent a notice. The Nebraska Multi-Court Case Calendar covers both options: pick County Court or District Court, choose Saline County, then search by current or future date or by last name. The calendar itself warns that its accuracy can lag. An empty result screen does not mean a Crete setting was canceled or never existed.
| Date | The listed court setting date; confirm against the notice when appearance matters. |
|---|---|
| Time | The time returned by the calendar, which can change after a continuance or reset. |
| Court | County Court or District Court for the filed Crete matter, not a presumed city docket. |
| Location | The location displayed by the court calendar or hearing notice. |
| Setting type | A hearing label such as arraignment, pretrial, motion, trial, status, or sentencing; it is not an outcome. |
Have the case number and court type ready. Then call County Court at 402-821-2131 or the District Clerk at 402-821-2823 to confirm an urgent Crete setting. County Court's published recurring schedule is useful context, but the case-specific calendar or a clerk's word is what counts.
Crete Filed Cases in JUSTICE
Crete filed cases live in JUSTICE. That is the statewide trial-court system Nebraska runs, not a Crete city database. A search of a filed Crete case can pull up a case summary, the parties, financial information, hearings, judge orders when applicable, and a register of actions. Images are a separate question. Whether the public can view them turns on the access path, conversion status, redaction, and any restrictions. Keep in mind that a docket entry records a court event in time. It is not a complete legal conclusion.
- Register of actions
- The court's chronological list of public filings, hearings, orders, and other case events.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event. A setting can be moved without ending the Crete case.
- Continuance or reset
- A change to a scheduled proceeding, not a dismissal or disposition.
- Disposition
- A recorded resolution event that should be read with the related order or judgment.
Need a certified Crete record? Head to the courthouse public terminal. Staff there can walk you through paper files and certification questions. Nebraska also sells subscriber access for repeated lawful research. Sealing and privacy restrictions still govern what you may see. Remember that a remote result is never a certified record.
Crete Traffic Tickets
Start with the channel that issued your Crete ticket. A city parking ticket usually stays with Crete Police and City Hall. A state or county citation runs through Nebraska's official Citation Information service. That service asks for the citation type, issuing county, citation number, citation date, and a few other fields. Search by citation number and date when you can. Those keys beat a name-only lookup every time.
Before you pay anything, read the state Citation Payment instructions. Payment without appearance is limited to waiverable matters. If one listed offense requires an appearance, the instructions require an appearance on all offenses on that citation. A lost state citation belongs to Saline County Court, not the Crete parking payment form. Expect a minimum $1.25 charge per case or ticket payment through the official ePayment system. That charge sits on top of a fine that stays case-specific.
One more warning worth heeding. Paying a waiver-allowed citation counts as a plea plus payment of fines and costs. It also waives your right to contest. Crete parking instructions and statewide citation instructions answer different questions. Never treat one as the rule for the other.
Crete Police Citation Records
Crete Police handles parking and impound records from 1945 Forest Avenue. The city lists business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call 402-826-4311 for non-emergency matters or 402-826-6422 for records and administration. Those numbers cover the city's administrative path only. A filed Crete court case still rests with the Saline clerk.

Ask Crete staff one focused question. Do they hold an ordinance, a parking reference, a payment record, a legal notice, or a copy of a city record? Once a court case number exists, take that number straight to County Court. City staff cannot certify a court judgment for you.
Where Crete Cases End Up
A Crete matter can move from city administration into the state court system. That shift never happens automatically. County Court is the likely home for a filed Crete ordinance violation, traffic matter, misdemeanor, infraction, or preliminary felony proceeding. District Court takes a felony trial matter after bind-over. It also handles a civil case over the County Court limit, domestic relations, equity, or an appeal. Federal cases sit outside Nebraska JUSTICE entirely. Those require the federal court system.
Docket flow: Crete city record or citation › Saline County Court if filed › Saline District Court for the matters within its jurisdiction or an appeal › Nebraska Court of Appeals where the appellate route applies.
For the full county-level routing picture, see the Saline County court docket overview. A Crete city payment history is not a court disposition. Likewise, a County Court register will never substitute for a Crete records request aimed at city archives or an administrative parking document.
Crete Court Portal Limits
Crete publishes no official public municipal-court search and no city court calendar. There is no city fee schedule, no separate city judge, and no municipal docket format. Say that plainly. It does not mean Crete lacks enforcement. The city's own materials name a City Clerk, a Police Department, parking enforcement, a payment workflow, and a municipal code. What is missing is a searchable public docket portal, not the records themselves.
When a Crete result comes up empty, find the custodian before paying for another search. Check the city reference number, the court case number, the court layer, and the filing date. Also check whether a record is restricted or paper-only. The clerk can explain how to get a plain or certified court copy. Local copy and certification charges vary.
Public Access to Crete Court Records
Nebraska court rules and statutes govern public access to a Crete court record. No promise exists that every document will appear online. A public JUSTICE result can arrive late, run narrow, arrive redacted, or sit under seal compared with the full clerk-held file. Juvenile, adoption, criminal-history, protection-order, and mental-health records carry special access limits. For a filed Crete case, request the specific public record from the court that keeps it.
Key Rules:
Nebraska Court Rule Article 8, §§1-804 to 1-805 permits authorized public access to categories such as case summaries, registers of actions, calendars, and available images through the remote provider or courthouse terminal.
Nebraska Court Rule §2-215 makes trial and appellate filings public unless a law, rule, or order restricts them and preserves the clerk-copy path.
Nebraska Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §84-712 provides the general examination and copying framework for public records requests.
Joshua McDougall, Clerk Magistrate, keeps Saline County Court matters. Amber Mulbery, District Clerk, keeps Saline District Court matters. Both offices sit at 204 South High Street in Wilber. When you request a Crete record, name the court and the case number. Give the exact document or date range. State whether you want a plain or certified copy. Courts do not issue no-record certificates. A destroyed-record form letter may exist under the retention policy.
Crete Court Access Checklist
Match each request to its home. Crete city administrative material goes to the issuing office. A Crete state citation goes to the state citation channel, and a filed Crete judicial record goes to the Saline clerk. A live court calendar can help you find a Crete hearing. A case-specific notice and the clerk are the safer confirmation path. Keep the source document, identifiers, and court layer clear whenever you make a request.
Note: Searchable public court information may be incomplete, delayed, redacted, sealed, or excluded. Confirm important Crete records with the originating custodian.
